a day at phillip island

Phillip Island is an island located just outside Melbourne. And it has penguins! And a chocolate factory! And a wild koala park, and numerous vineyards... Sold to the stupid tourist over here!!

Yes you can hire a car and drive there yourself for half the price... But what's the fun in that:)? So me and Lena got on the super-tourist tour with the super gay super cool tour guide to Phillip Island, to see the penguins... And to see the chocolate factory of course, I mean, a woman needs her chocolate, right...!?!??! Anyways, the bonus on the trip was the wild koalas and the somewhat wild kangaroos. Plus the free wine sampling and cheese tasting mmmm!! Good opportunity for some pics. All in all, very nice day, a big thumbs up from the super tourist.
And yes, the mini penguins were cuter than cute! We almost took one home! We would have taken the fat baby, named him Albert (and hoped he was a dude...otherwise, awkward!!), fed him and loved him until the end. And that would have meant me and Lena would have had to stay in Australia for good, bonus, coz imagine explaining to the customs why you're having a penguin tucked down your sleeve... Not good. Good we didn't do it I guess...
Anyways...
I didn't get a very good picture of the penguins, since you technically weren't allowed to take pics of the penguins... Bummer. But here's a coupe og pictures from the rest...

Ozmania

So folks, yet again it's been a while... And many apologies for that. I have been very busy with traveling, and the amount of pictures I have taken is overwhelming. And the Internet here is both retarded and way too expensive.

But now I'm all alone in Byron Bay, a city located some 3 hours down from Brisbane, on the east cost. Yes I'm still in Australia, for those who who weren't too sure...
There is so much to tell you, so many pictures to show! I have had a blast in Melbourne, I've road tripped on the great ocean road, couchsurfed in Surfers Paradise, been to a electronic music festival, spent new-years in Sydney, seen Sydney's famous opera house and nightlife, hiked in the beautiful Blue Mountains, dived in the great barrier reef, swam with turtles, bathed in waterfalls and volcanic lakes, sailed the Withsundays, driven on sandy Frasier Island, and met some fab people on the way! So far it has been an experience beyond imagination, but FUCK, my back account is crying (and me too)! Oz is expensive beyond believes, and I'm happy that (money wise) I don't have long left here... I'm going to Asia, where I will be tanning for breakfast and licking stones for dinner... Or something like that... At least a beer doesn't cost freaking 10$ in Thailand, and most likely I'll even get get food poisoning. Free detox woop woo!p!
Anyways, I'll spend another 4 days here in hippie Byron, and then I'm moving on to sunny Pert, west cost baby! Hopefully Tanja will agree on doing a small road trip with me, to go and feed the dolphins;)
Until then, I will do my best to catch up on all the posts I haven't posted. Stay tuned!

my animal kingdom

So far I have seen; opossums, wild koalas, freakishly large bats, wild kangaroos or wallabies, farm emus, a (dead) hedgehog, and all sorts of parrot birds; like kakaduus. And unfortunately some big ass rats...

victoria market

Melbourne has a lot to offer, and Victoria Market is no exception. Here you can get your meat, fish, cheese, delicatessens, cheap souvenir stuff, clothes, food, and what not... But the Victoria Night Market is at its best from 7pm. Concerts, loads of people, cheap drinks and food. And you just sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere, until you move on to a bar. Well, then you never know where you'll end up...(erhm McDonalds...)

do it like they do it in Fitzroy

Fitzroy is a part of Melbourne, and I'm seriously considering moving there! I love it! Lots of small bars, cafes, nice little shops... And everything is trashy in the coolest way! And a lot of live bands too!
It is dangerous to have a return ticket that is refundable and changeable...
