interior inspo

Before I reveal my new and improved room, and the level of my taste in interior decorating, I thought it would be nice to share a bit some of the inspiration I found online. Somethings I already knew I wanted, and therefor searched the the web for pictures to best describe it, and other stuff I just found inspiring when I stumbled upon it and decided to either go all copy-cat, or just do something similar.
Maybe the pics will set the tone for my room, and you can already picture the result. Nonetheless, here's what inspires me atm.

diy desk my dad made for me

After ripping off the floorboards in my room, I knew I wanted to make something out of them. I came to the conclusion that a desk would be the most versatile, and usable for that matter. I asked my dad to make it for me (because I am no genius when it comes to making things, and he is). So he made a desk out of the wooden planks, and then I painted it and gave it a thin coating of lacquer. Voila! It is stunning in my opinion, I LOVE it! Thx again daddy!

Original old wooden floorboards.

The table after glueing and polishing. The legs are just loose steel legs we bought from Ikea.

I mixed some white paint into the stain-paint.

The table was painted and afterwards lacquered, to give it a "old-used-wood" look.

And the finished result!

You like it?

extreme makeover; room edition

Something to keep me occupied with; room DIY.

When I wasn't working I was busy rebuilding my room. It used to be my little brothers room, so I never really had my own space there, since the room was filled with his old crap and was decorated with worn down children's wallpaper, squeaky old floors, a useless closet and horrifying shelfs. It was time for a change, I was not going to live in a room looking like that for long. So with the help of my brother and dad, we demolished all evidence of the old room, tore up the floors and cracked the closed. The room has been painted and the corner that used to be the closet has now gotten new walls and new life, we isolated, I got a new floor and even the door got painted. The only furniture I kept was the bed, everything else got replaced. I am extremely happy with the result. But it was 3 weeks of hard work. It wasn't done in a weekend like I'de hoped...
There's still a long way to go what concerns interior deco, but it's finally coming along. I will show pictures, before and after, when my room is completely done. In the meanwhile here are some pictures of the process.

a travelers favorites

Some of my favorite things in my packpack.
And check out the wall! I love the wall. I want a wall like that. Raw concrete chic.
(it was the unfinished walls inside the cheapest room we could find on Koh Phagnan...)

Loving my semi new Stella McCartney comfy bra, new fake sunnies, silver necklace with a bird skull, white top with gold studs from Zara and my watch from Skagen.

But my poor Skagen watch got stolen! So now there's some asian prick running around with my watch, probably trying to sell it for cheap cheap. ARGH!

The bra from Stella McCartney, found in an underwear outlet in Melbourne. Apparently I'm really into underwear, and apparently I'm willing to invest a lot on underwear, both money wise and time wise. Not good. It's becoming a destructive habit.

My new favorite necklace! A long chain in silver, with a tiny silver bird skull. I bought it at the weekend market in Bangkok. Superb market, SO worth the visit there!

Round shaped sunnies were what I was looking for, and these were the ones that joined my sunglass collection. Just a bummer they have to be 'Ray Ban's', but it's quite the challenge finding something in Asia that's not fake labelled.
