that copenhagen

Copenhagen is and will always be my city. Even if there are some who are doing their best to take that away from me, I can't deny the spell the city has on me. I simply love it. And I know that I will move back - at some point. That point is not yet though, there are some matters that prevent me from moving there, and then there are reasons I don't want to move there, at least not yet. Hopefully I can get over some of my fear and issues I have now, and soon start to think about moving back there, to mentally prepare. Until then, I'm trying to enjoy it, even though I'm afraid of running into people I wish not to see. It went rather painless the last time. Fingers crossed next time will be as good :)

Here are some snapshots I manage to take while visiting Denmark, and the most wonderful Copenhagen.
First of all, and the main purpose for our trip to DK was to successfully escort my little brother to his new home. He is now attending 10th grade in a sports specialized school, where he will spend the next year. Running is mandatory and part of the everyday wakeup routine. Good luck with that.
One child comes back home and the other one leaves.

Anyways:
There's nothing like the cheap hipster cool relaxed cozy environment at Nørrebro. And enjoying a organic bottled beer a sunday evening with friends, in a full crowd of life-loving cool copenhagenians is just way better than sitting at home in rainy Naantali watching The Biggest Loser. Just saying.
The bars in Nørrebro are small and worn down, but the atmosphere is so very far from that.

Then waking up to a complete danish breakfast is simply awesome. Rye-bread from the bakery and chocolate on top of it is what I could eat everyday, all day.
Cheap and chic. Or just plain X-tra cheap...

Nothing beats biking in Copenhagen. Your bicycle is your best friend, if you're not up for public transport, and will take you anywhere in notime!
Except for when one of the bridges are broken and no traffic can come across. Or when it's raining heavy DK rain and the wind is blowing you off your bike into the traffic...that's a major shitfest. But except for that biking is super great!
And did I mention bike riding über cool too?

Strøget, the walking street crossing the heart of Copenhagen is so lovely in the summer. Sitting by the fountain having a coffee, or sitting by the canals enjoying some sushi(or/with beer) just might make a trip to CPH worth the while.
And along the street you can find some 1.class shopping. The H&M is huge and was frequently visited during my visit...erhm...

And after a hard day of doing nothing, shopping, working, studying, sightseeing, you must stop by one of the places to just hang out and have a beer. It can be a park or a bar, by the canals, or in our case, on the bridge to Nørrebro. Even the half warm beer from the minimart tastes great in the Nørrebro evening sun.
Perfect place for some prime time people watching; one of my favorite hobbies.

I met up with Maria, and we continued the tradition of over-consuming the buffet at Riz-Raz. Lunch there is the perfect place to catch up, and yeah, eat up. Lunch was followed by, guess what, SHOPPING!

And you can not go to DK without having a sausage at the sausage stand. In my case, I had quite a few.
And a red sausage hotdog is just so good! With extra roasted (fried?) onions!
Tanja is eagerly awaiting her hotdog.
Yumyum.

Thx girls for the best time!!! The hotdog says hi!

Heres a somewhat failed outfit post. I look like a chubby dork, but it's all I got. Better next time. Promise. maybe....
(oh please, I got up at 5.15 AM to pack, then caught a plane to RIGA at 8 something, and from RIGA after 2 hours of waiting time, I got on a plane to CPH. In Copenhagen we spent the day shopping supplies for my little brother and running errands. These pics are taken in the evening, I was freezing and tired, and I actually believe I have a legitimate excuse for looking like a hobo)
So, wearing my gray maxi dress from forever21, silver sandals from H&M, round sunnies from H&M, leather jacket and gray scarf from Provider, I was comfy and fairly warm.

a travelers favorites

Some of my favorite things in my packpack.
And check out the wall! I love the wall. I want a wall like that. Raw concrete chic.
(it was the unfinished walls inside the cheapest room we could find on Koh Phagnan...)

Loving my semi new Stella McCartney comfy bra, new fake sunnies, silver necklace with a bird skull, white top with gold studs from Zara and my watch from Skagen.

But my poor Skagen watch got stolen! So now there's some asian prick running around with my watch, probably trying to sell it for cheap cheap. ARGH!

The bra from Stella McCartney, found in an underwear outlet in Melbourne. Apparently I'm really into underwear, and apparently I'm willing to invest a lot on underwear, both money wise and time wise. Not good. It's becoming a destructive habit.

My new favorite necklace! A long chain in silver, with a tiny silver bird skull. I bought it at the weekend market in Bangkok. Superb market, SO worth the visit there!

Round shaped sunnies were what I was looking for, and these were the ones that joined my sunglass collection. Just a bummer they have to be 'Ray Ban's', but it's quite the challenge finding something in Asia that's not fake labelled.

i'm coming home

Materialist forever, there is no denying it.
I am ready to leave my hippie anklets and bracelets behind, toss out my ripped tees and ragged tops, wear makeup again, get mentaly prepared for abandoning the flipflops in exchange for closed shoes, and stylewise turn into my old self. I am so ready to get back to my full blown closet, my things, my friends and family, my macbook and our dog, in other words; get back to civilization! Words can not describe how much I'm looking forward to going home!
This trip has taught me something I already knew, I am a materialist and apparently very vein, and that's not gonna change anytime soon. I have travelled amongst hippies, seen many monks, walked amongst the poor, sometimes looking like one, given money to beggars, lived like a nomad, and always tried to find the cheapest way out. Now I'm done. The tiny growing hippie seed in my heart I had before this trip has vanished completely, I despise dreadlocks even more, and hiking boots outside a forest makes me nauseous. Many people tell me that traveling will make you realize how the western world is too materialistic and people are not able to enjoy life, to appreciate the small things that matter . Not me, nahaah, I'm going home to my stuff my things my belongings, because to me they matter, and believe me, I will enjoy every minute of it!
I am not saying that I will never travel again, coz I will. I love traveling more than anything, but next time is going to be out of my pink suitcase and not a backpack, I am done dragging my backpack around for more than a month. I will stay at a nice cockroach free hotel and enjoy proper breakfasts. But for now, I'm happy just going home. No, I'm extadic!

I'm in Singapore airport waiting for boarding, sitting at the same Starbucks where I wrote my first travel post 7 months ago. Time fucking flies, I can't believe 7 months has gone by. Incomprehensible. I have had the journey of my life, I loved it and I have plans to return to some of the places one day. I still have a lot to show you, and I hope to catch up soon with all the missed travel posts. As a matter of fact, I'm going home to a real computer, connected to the world wide web, which makes blogging much easier.

A big thanks to all the people who made this trip unforgettable, I will miss you, and I hope you are all doing fantastic out there. Hope to see you again some day. Much love!

Over and out.

last day in spore

Don't read this if you're in a bad mood. This is a negative post and will not help or enlighten your day in any way.

Im pissed of, sad and angry. I have had such a shitty day. Yesterday when I wrote no meltdowns yet, well, that totally went and blew up in my face... I need to get my aggressions out! So here are some things that has annoyed immensely today;
- I hate queues! I hate queuing for something for forever, and then rushing through, for then to still miss out on the one thing you wanted to see.
- I hate spending 39 dollars on something when you missed out anyways.
- I hate waiting for the bus, coz when you missed out on the thing you wanted to see and just want to leave, you also just missed the bus. Hence the 30 minutes of time to write my angry post.
- I hate not being home right now. I hate not being there for my mom.
- I hate putting on sunscreen. And I hate when finally arriving at the beach, the sun decides to disappear, and the clouds warn you of thunder.
- I hate having to answer ten thousand questions, from a skinny nosy Asian guy in a speedo, laying creepishly close to me on a somewhat deserted beach, when I'm CLEARLY not in a talkative mood.
- I hate being thirsty, sweaty and having to pee at the same time.
- I hate that my face is a mess, and whatever I do only makes it worse (rash, allergic reaction or whatever... Something's messed up!)
- I hate that my phone is fucking autocorrecting every fucking word into something else, and ignoring the obvious spelling mistakes, so it takes fucking forever to write this!
- I hate crying in public.
- I hate that someone stole stuff from my luggage, and now my new bag, my watch, my charger and my nightie is missing. I mean, WTF?!?!
- I hate staying in a dorm with no light and no privacy, on a day when you're feeling extremely moody and just want to be left by yourself. And I hate having the top bunk bed.
- I hate that this day started off so bad, that the ongoings at home determined the fate of an otherwise perfectly normal and fun day, and that it turned into a day where everything went wrong. I hate that this day was doomed from the beginning.
- I hate knowing that the first family gathering back home is a funeral.

Hopefully I feel more cheerful tomorrow.

Outfit post, long time no see. Here in Singapore I feel inspired, and therefor feel like trying to look somewhat decent. Today I went to the royal botanic garden, and headed straight towards the orchid garden. So posing as a common tourist, the poor girl photographing me had no idea the tourist pose was just a disguise for an opportunity for an outfit photo. I look very awkward and sweaty, but hey, I produced an outfit post.
I wore a new top from H&M trend, cut off Levi's shorts, new shoes from H&M, necklace from Istanbul, Ray Ban sunnies worn on a rose-gold colored chain (again new and from H&M). Very matchy matchy in color, but I kinda like it.
